Wellness Within Reach
How do I increase participation in a wellness program with a school system?
This is a wellness program that pays you to get healthy, basically we reward you with cash for reaching certain levels within the program. Essentially you wear a Pedometer that you upload to a website that tracks your progress and moves you through the program. It is difficult to get teachers and administrators involved and am curious if anyone has any ideas that might make this more appealing to that population.
This is a free program, the insurance company paid for it for them, part of health bennies. We provide the rewards, up to $150/ year.
we already have a 15% activation, we need to increase that number as well as the number of participants who are engaged.
Find out who is on the district wellness committee and start there. Find one administrator who is on board and your golden. It is difficult. I am a physical therapist in the school setting. Some schools do better than others.
The one committee has written a policy on what types of snacks can be eaten at school and what parents can bring in for birthdays and holidays. It has not yet been approved but I am sure it will have an impact.
