What is your opinion on Natural Balance cat food?

I have a cat with IBS, vet told me to switch to a food with an alternative protein source. the only thing I keep coming across is Natural balance duck and green pea formula. if you have used this brand (or better yet this formula) how has it been on your kitties? is it really a good food source? have you had any issues with allergens in this food?

I currently feed my kitties wellness, and they just aren’t doing well on it. *sigh, I thought i was doing good. and I am aware that a raw diet is honestly the best thing I can do (I have been looking at rad cat) so I don’t need an opinion on a raw diet. and for that matter I know that I need to feed them mostly wet food.

I feed my cats Natural Balance. They seem to like it. I will say that I do not use the Duck and Green Pea variety. I tried it on a couple of occasions. My cats would not eat it. So, I gave it to my mother for her cats to try. They also would not eat it.

Natural balance does have other grain free varieties. They have Venison and Green Pea which is formulated with cats that have allergies in mind. My cats love that variety. Actually, I have seen cats that otherwise do not eat wet food who love the Venison and Green Pea variety. There is also a Chicken and Green Pea variety (which my cats also like) as well as a Salmon and Green Pea variety. They are advertised as “allergy formulas.”

FWIW, the Venison formula is only available in the canned variety. The other formulas are available in dry and canned varieties. But, from my experience, cats in general tend to prefer the Venison.

But, anyway, to answer your question about the duck variety…not so popular with the cats (I was using the canned). And, I can tell you also that it is the most pungent cat food I have ever smelled as well.
