Wellness Dog Biscuits
if i give my dog some human food sometimes?
as treats, what is okay in small amounts (i usually give her like a bite or two of steak for example), and which ones (food or ingredient) should I avoid or never give her? she has other biscuits and chews but sometimes i just give her a little to taste after we eat. she also eats Wellness dog food..
there are alot of human foods that are toxic and can poison your dog…however, if you’re only giving certain safe foods once in awhile as a treat (not everyday) then it should be oh-kay…
here is a list of foods to avoid:
1. Pear pips, the kernels of plums, peaches and apricots, apple core pips (contain cyanogenic glycosides resulting in cyanide poisoning)
2.Potato peelings and green looking potatoes
3. Rhubarb leaves
4. Moldy/spoiled foods
5. Alcohol
6. Yeast dough
7. Coffee grounds, beans & tea (caffeine)
8. Hops (used in home brewing)
9. Tomatoes, and tomato leafs/stems
10. Broccoli (in large amounts)
11. Raisins and grapes
12. Cigarettes, tobacco, cigars
13. chocolate
14. onions
15. garlic
16. macadamia nuts
17. milk or dairy (most dogs and cats are lactose intolerant)
many of the above mentioned foods can cause kidney failure, chronic diarrhea, cardiac arrest, cramping, bloating, gas, chronic stomachaches, and other health issues
keep off this list and you should be better off, however you also need to be aware of the way you offer your dog her human food treat: if it’s chicken or turkey then take it off the bone because the bones can shatter and pierce the inside of the mouth or stomach, if it’s steak make sure it isn’t seasoned with something dangerous and don’t give it to her straight off the grill or she’ll burn her mouth, be wary of wrappers and sticks
keep in mind there are alot of treats made for dogs out there that are safer than table scraps, why not a milk bone or a beggin strip?
if you want to feed your dog human food, it can actually be healthier for them than dog food; if you consult your vet first to be sure what you are feeding them is safe as well as nutritious
here is an article about dangerous foods for dogs:

and here is a website where feeding all natural human food to your dog instead of dog food is discussed as a healthy alternative (especially for sickly or elderly dogs, or dogs with food allergies):

hope this helps!
