Going Vegan and Kathy Frestons cleanse?

Hey,
I saw a repeat of an Oprah show the other day and there was this woman called Kathy Freston who wrote a book called Quantum Wellness. She also advices a 21 day cleanse, where no animal products, sugar, wheat or caffeine are to be consumed. I am thinking about going from Vegetarian to Vegan and becoming alot healthier. I am 5.9 and 130 pounds and really want to lose 15 pounds which I have gained this year.
Has anyone done this cleanse?
If so have you felt more positive and have you lost any weight?
Has anyone made a transaction into Vegan ism and lost weight and felt better also?

I don’t know about the book and the cleanse but I had been vegan for 2 months and I actually gained weight. I have to add that I did not change my diet to lose weight but the vegan plan just made me eat more because I found it more difficult to feel satisfied.

People think that vegetarians and vegans are thin because there isn’t much they can eat but it is just not the case. Even if you stop eating cheese and dairy there are so many fattening things in a vegan diet [bread, sugar, pasta, oil, nuts and seeds, etc] and the lack of protein makes me feel hungry more easily not to mention that all meat and cheese substitutes are laden with fats.

Also you have to be very careful with vegan diets to eat the right things and you probably have to take supplements.

For me the best diet is a balanced omnivorous diet. The only way to loose weight is to eat less.
