New Health Care Management Group

Remember the comments about health care rationing?
Saw this article today on the USA Today web site:
A new survey on health care finds that a small percentage of very sick patients account for about half of all medical spending and are the driving force behind double-digit increases in insurance premiums, the National Journal reports.
The survey, by the non-partisan National Institute for Health Care Management Foundation, found that from 2005 to 2009, 5% accounted for 47.5% of all health care spending, and 1% were responsible for 20% of all medical costs. Half the population racks up only 3% of total spending.
As we go down the path to National Health Care does anyone doubt there will eventually be a push to Limit ( Ration ) available health care choices for the “sick” of the country? If not, what do you believe will be the course of action for this group of people?
Yes, I remember ‘rationing’ and I also remember ‘death panels’, and yes, they both still apply as they always have… to private healthcare insurance. Here’s how I see the course of action working out: the amoral private enterprise that profits proportionately to the coverage it declines is always going to ‘ration’ healthcare and always conduct a ‘death panel’, and I see representative government with a formal obligation to provide service and no profit motive as always astronomically less likely to ‘ration’ care or conduct ‘death panels’. In the era of profit oriented private healthcare insurance, how do you doubt the death panel rationing that has occurred right in front of your face for decades, and you’re asking me if I doubt any of my convictions yet?
