I am VERY, VERY worried about my carrer AFTER college(I’m a sophmore). Need Help!?

Right now I have a 3.1875 GPA and I am pretty worried about my career as a doctor or a dentist. I really want to be a doctor or a dentist, but my dad told me it’s really hard to get in medical school.

I am already stressed about high school because I’m taking Chemistry. It is very hard. My dad recommends me Physics for junior year. I was thinking about JUST taking this class called Human Anatomy and Physiology because the subject relates to health and it will actually be possible than Chemistry.

My dad said I have to take Physics even though it’s not going to be part of my major.Here are my questions.

Will a 3.5 get me into medical school(IU medical school specifically)? Does playing guitar, bass, and drums count as extra curricular activities? Should I take Physics like my dad said? Which of these three classes for my career should I take: AP Bio, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Physics?

Whoa, calm down! You sound like your in high school… if you are, you are definitly jumping the gun WAY to early.

You do NOT apply to medical school right out of High school. You need to first complete your undergraduate studies at a college/univeristy with a Pre-Med major.

That being said…. Take whatever classes you believe will boost your GPA…. Don’t take Physics in high school, because most likely you will be Required to take General Physics in College as part of your major (they want you to be well rounded, trust me)… and physics in high school doesn’t really prepare you all that much… unless you take an AP Physics class, score high enough to get credit… don’t bother takeing physics in high school.

I would recommend taking the AP Bio, and Anatomy/Physiology for high school…. they’re like “make or break” classes…. if you really realize you aren’t cut out for medical school, you’ll know with these classes. But if you enjoy the challenge, these classes offer a good base line to what you’ll learn in your undergraduate studies. TRY taking the AP Bio exam, and score well enough to get credit in college… that will be one less class you’ll have to take if you receive credit.
