Hourly rate for Speech language pathologist?
My wife is leaving her job at the local hospital in Michigan and has been hired at a private home health care practice as an SLP. They told her to name her salary demands for the new job. The job is full time(40 hours) and is salary. Her yearly income at the hospital was 58K/Yror 29 per hour. Private health care generally pays more. How much of a salary increase from the hospital should she ask for? Is the a rule of thumb when negotiating? Only serious answers please
I assume her new employer knows her salary at her current position, thus is willing to meet and/or beat that salary.
I would call private SLP’s around a 100 mile radius of the area and ask their rates and hit a happy median between 58k and what the private sector is paying.
Just guessing, I would say 10-20 percent more.
