Health Spring Insurance

How can I find out the likelihood of getting slapped with preexisting conditions if I lose insurance for a bit?
I’m currently a full time undergraduate student covered under my parents’ health insurance plan. I am planning to get married this spring, at which point I will no longer be covered. I was planning to be in college this spring and purchase health insurance through their group plan, but it looks like that won’t work out until fall.
It seems prudent to go ahead with the marriage, because one consequence will be that I will be eligible for more federal aid, and I won’t be able to continue in college without it. I am worried about being uninsured from March until whenever the new semester starts, and then being denied crucial parts of coverage on grounds of preexisting conditions.
Who can I / should I talk to about how I should work this insurance thing? Are there good resources on the web that explain the laws regarding insurance? Who is an expert on such matters?
You talk to a local agent.
Depending on what state you live in, and what exactly the preexisting condition is, the likelihood on a private plan is anywhere from not a chance to 100%.
You also have the issue of flat out, can you get a policy, or will you be denied outright.
A local agent who knows what state you are in, can answer your questions in a few minutes. You won’t find the info on the web – because it won’t be able to evaluate your preexisting conditions.
