Why do people ask health questions they should ask their doctor?

Maybe I just don’t see it because yahoo answers (most of it’s members on here probably under the age of 18 and probably 20 active members total probably are licensed doctors) seems like the last place I would look for answers to potentially life threatening health questions.

In usa doctors are often inaccessible, and almost definitely very expensive. (People actually go bankrupt due to the obscene medical fees, and more often people just don’t get treated and they die.) So it makes sense to get an idea of what you are facing before investing a great deal of time, money, and stress in getting a doctors advice. What’s more most of the doctors here are often fairly useless, or even counter productive. For me, doctors in USA are a last resort. If it’s not an emergency, and I have an illness that really needs to be treated, I’ll probably go back to my country for it. I’m not going to encourage USA’s abysmal medical standards with my cash, and quite honestly, I feel I’d be putting my life on the line by staying.

Still, it’s very sad (nauseating, terrifying), but for some people coming to Y!A is one of the best options they have… Along with some other web sites.
