My health insurance insurance from work is refusing to pay on a claim. What should I do?

I am in Calif. I am working at the same work place, but the employer recently changed insurance carriers. The doctor filed the paperwork on time (2 years ago). The insurance co. stalled on paying bc they said I needed to fill out a questionnaire confirming that I did not have any other insurance. I filled out the questionnaire and even followed up with a phone call. The insurance co. now says that they have no record of my questionnaire and that they don’t keep records of my phone calls to them for more than 4-6 months so now, they claim they have no records of the call. I even wrote down the name of the ppl I spoke with but the company’s calls are handled in India and the Philippines and the names don’t seem to mean anything to that co. (they cannot locate the employees even if you have their first names). The insurance co. now says that the account is “closed”, the bank acct is “closed” and that they cannot consider the claim for payment. Any suggestions? Thanks.

What really is interesting is that consumers are putting up with this type of thing. Call the Board of Insurance, and ask for the consumer hotline. They may/may not be able to help, if they cannot.. Make a payment schedule or arrangment with the hospital/ provider, they may negotiate a lower price because if they send you to collection they will only get 30.cents on the dollar (at the most).

LET THIS BE A LESSON TO EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN AMERICA WHO HAS INSURANCE:

WHERE YOUR CLAIMS ARE BEING HANDLED.. – If they are using a company outside of America India ET, you might want to change companies!!!!…Same thing with your Broker/ Agent.. FIND OUT IF THEY EVEN IN THE STATE YOUDO, I ADVICE EVERYONE TO USE AN AGENT YOU CAN DRIVE TO. IF YOUR COMPANY HAD USED A LOCAL AGENT- HE/SHE WOULD OF HANDLED THAT CLAIM- IF YOUR AGENT/BROKER IS OUT OF STATE – FIRE THEM, AND HIRE A LOCAL ONE, WHO HANDLES CLAIMS.. GUESS WHAT- THAT IS THEIR JOB. THEY DON’T GET PAID TO LOOK PRETTY. THESE GUYS MAKE GOOD MONEY, USE THEM.
