Is anyone here a “slave” to their employer because of a quality health care benefit?

As a Canadian I my health care travels with me so that I can change jobs, be without a job or retire and I always have the same health care as everyone else in Canada.

I know that isn’t how it works in the USA but I like mine better.

Are you afraid to change your job or quit your job because of that reason?

A yes or no will do, but your experiences are important too.
Mars: 200 years ago the average life span was about 60 years of age. Now a child born after 2000 will live to be 100.
Except in America, the average life expectancy is seven years LESS.
jdman: Computers aren’t in the constitution either, are you going to turn yourself in? Times change.
kathleen: That happens in Canada too, but at least we all get similar health care paid through out taxes. Just like the rich guys.

My employer doesn’t offer health care coverage. I work for a small company, and a very profitable one at that. At the end of the year they scramble to spend money in order to reduce their taxes. Last year they bought $120,000 on a new RV. They also bought several new vehicles to replace ones that were less than 2 yrs old, as well as a number of other items that could be used for personal use. Needless to say, the employees looked at the conspicuous consumption and braced for another year of hoping to stay healthy. The only trickle down we felt was warm and yellow.
