Health Insurance Question?

My company health insurance has changed. For example, for most categories (ER, Outpatient care, Mental) it states:

Deductible ($1000.00) and 25% Coinsurance

What does this mean. It also states for Maternity Care that there is a 20$ copay per initial visit. Does this mean that I have to pay the rest of the visits out of pocket… Oh and get this, “Elective Termination of Pregnancy” -No Charge…

can some one help me understand this and is there any insurance I can get in New York City that will help me have a baby in the future. I make 40K, take home 28K after taxes, and about 40% of my income goes to rent. I think I make too much to qualify for medicaid.

You pay the first $1000 then you are covered at 75%. Insurance pays the 75% you pay 25%. Maternity you pay a copay of $20 for the initial vist then you are no longer required to pay a copay. Term of pregnancy gets paid because it’s cheaper for insurance to pay for that rather than paying for all the services required for a full term pregnancy.

If this is the plan your employer offers, you are stuck with it. You can still apply for medicaid to see if you qualify. If you are a single parent you may qualify. You may also qualify for other assistance.
