Health Information Technician
Is it fun to be a Health Information Technician?
I am thinking of getting my associates degree in HIM and was just wondering if this job would be too boring or fun and challenging.
There are different job options with being a HIT,but most of them usually do coding.
Coding is definitely challenging. You often spend a lot of time researching chart notes, you spend a lot of time being frustrated with physicians for their poor documentation and you spend a lot of time trying to find codes.
Coding can definitely be boring, you do the same thing all. day. long. read notes, look up codes, code chart. go to next chart. it can be tedious somedays.
Coding can be fun, if you hvae the personality of it. I love my job. I love what I do. and I love learning something new each day. With coding, even after doing it for 6 years, I still learn something new. And I find that fun.
I usually listen to music or an audio book on my mp3 player and that helps with the boredom, tediousness and frustration.
