NGO Groups in the Philippines?

I was reading RD Asia issue for October and I have read something about the Philippines Society for Orphan Disorder. (Orphan Disorder = Rare Disease).

MQ1 : How helpful/active NGOs are in the Philippines?
MQ2 : Are they a good choice to go to for aid (personal, emotional, financial, health, violence, graft….) since most government agencies are often stuck in ice.

The apparent effects of graft, corruption, and mismanagement have taken its toll on the country post-Marcos. NGOs have played a significant role in helping and giving services to the people, where the government lacks or fails in terms of providing services to the Filipinos.

In order to benefit fully from the services of NGOs, one must search for NGOs that specifically serve a certain group (e.g., orphans, calamity victims, victims of deadly diseases, etc.), or a certain cause (e.g., environmental, human rights, political, etc.).

Not every NGO established in the Philippines are “noble” in the sense that although they may be recognized by the government and proper authorities like the SEC and BIR, they were simply established by large companies to serve as “tax shelters”, and the services they render come only after that initial selfish purpose.

Fortunately, there are still a lot of other NGOs out there who remain true to their Vision and Mission of helping the society.
