im in debt! with genesis please help!?

hi please i need help im a single mom living by myself with one job… 2 years ago i made a contract with genesis health club.. and went only like a month i tried to cancel it but i couldnt so i stopped going and paying the monthly contract i moved from home because i changed jobs and i suppose they send me papers about my contract … until now one of my friends moved to the house i used to live when i made the contract and she got a paper in the mail that said that i have to go to court in 15 days i dont have the money to pay the 2560 dollars that theyre asking what can i do… i live in wichita ks.. thanks

You can appear in court and contest the amount, contracts must contain a 30 day cancellation clause that you can use to your advantage or you can agree to a payment plan that you can afford. The only other option would be to not go and they would get a default judgment and if you work they could garnish your wages for a percentage of them.}{
