What is a good backup major for nursing?

I don’t think I will get into the program since they are very strict with grades and want As instead of Bs in the science courses and english. I was thinking about Human services but I heard it’s boring and hard to get a job. I live in NYC and go to BMCC so far. I want to work in the medical field. Dental hygiene does not interest me or pre-med or physical therapy or psychology. I know I am picky.

My other ideas was
Speech Pathologist
Mortuary science
Health care administration

Which career is good and interesting? Any other ideas, tell me.

You might want to consider sonographer, x-ray tech, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, HC administration is a waste of time. You need a BSN or an MSN to get a job like that (I know – I have a BS of HCA).

As far as grades go, yes they do want high grades in nursing. Nursing school is brutal and they expect good grades there too. The information comes at you so fast you can barely catch your breath.. and then you get turned loose on the unsuspecting public. Respiratory therapists make more than nurses do. Also the sonographers who do the echocardiograms and such make a lot of money too. If I had it to do over again, that is what I would major in.
