How is “double-tap” in the face better, than waterboarding?
The alleged head of the Al Qaeda network Osama bin Laden was shot in the face (twice — hence “double-tap”) on the orders of President Obama.
The alleged mastermind of the 9/11 terror attack Khalid Sheik Mohamed was waterboarded.
Illiberals are proudly taking credit for the first, while denouncing the second as inhumane, criminal, and illegal (even if though it yielded a lot of useful information, including contributing to locating Osama).
Yet, KSM is still alive — and even in decent health — while OBL is sleeping with the fishes.
Why was the killing (and the SEALs were ordered to kill, not capture: http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/05/02/us-binladen-kill-idUSTRE7413H220110502 ) better than the waterboarding?
We couldn’t just capture him. We had to kill him and we wanted to make sure he was dead. If we just captured him, and announced it, then it would be open season on Americans to be taken hostage.
Still, part of me wishes that he really is alive, and that they do have him somewhere and they do whatever it takes to get as much information out of him – and then they kill him.
