Can I still drive a 18-wheeler?
I am ending a inpatient mental health commitment by the end of February 2011. I want to begin a career in truck driving. Will the medication that I am on – Clozaril and Prolix-an keep me from finding a good job in trucking? I will probably taper off all anti-psychotics before it is said and done, but what issue will the DMV of NC have with my current medical status. I am being released at the end of this month in sound health and remission for a majority of my symptoms. I want to be a trucker – someone please give me insight about this issue.
You have to pass a physical exam and obtain a medical card to obtain your license. If you have bad hearing, are diabetic, or on psych meds odds are you won’t be able to drive commercially.
