What more proof does the GOP need to show we need healthcare reform thats for the people not insurance comp.?
Health Secretary Kathleen Sebelius two weeks ago demanded Anthem Blue Cross of California, a unit of Wellpoint Inc, provide information about plans to boost premiums by up to 39 percent.
On Thursday, she said the agency’s report showed other insurers also were seeking “extreme premium increases” while Americans struggled through an economic downturn. “We know that insurance companies are not suffering that same kind of downturn,” she said at a news conference.
Profits for the 10 largest insurance companies rose 250 percent from 2000 to 2009, 10 times faster than inflation, the report said.
The top five — WellPoint, UnitedHealth Group Inc, Cigna Corp, Aetna Inc and Humana Inc — took combined profits of $12.2 billion, up 56 percent from 2008, it said
Excellent question Mike…and I cannot believe that any true Democrat would be against health care reform. Democrats are not only about what benefits them…but they think about all the people…unlike the republicans!
The GOP – Grand Opposition Party has had 13 years to do something about health care…yet they have done nothing. I don’t think anything will convince them that we need health care reform. They are that out of touch with mainstream America that they totally ignore. These people enjoy the health benefits that has been negotiated at a cheaper rate…probably 50 percent cheaper than what the average American pays. They also can change their insurance carriers every year to fit their health care needs….unlike the average American who has only ONE option and NO chance to ever change.
Why can’t people see how this? People have not reasoning skills and lack the ability to research…drug companies, medical associations, oil companies all contribute to the republicans…they are paid well to turn a blind eye to the problems of the American people.
