Bridging The Health Gap

21 years old, one baby tooth left. Looking for advice from a dentist.?
My left incisor has not come out of my mouth. When I went to the dentist a year and a half ago they noticed that my adult tooth is sitting above it.
For about a month now, the baby tooth has been bothering me. It often feels out of place or loose. I’m terrified of it falling out because I don’t want to be left with a gap in my mouth and I don’t have health insurance so I can’t have it bridged.
If this tooth does come out, what are the chances of the adult tooth coming down?
I’d feel horribly self-conscious if I had a gap. Can a dentist please tell me what my options are? Why does this tooth suddenly feel odd?
It’s the top left incisor, by the way.
Current insurance only covers extraction and I won’t be covered for anything as of August anyway. Also, I’m a student and unemployed so I have no health benefits.
This tooth which should have been lost when you were 7 is finally giving up the ghost and it will only be a matter of time before it will come out. So the options are what to do then.
1. The lateral incisor will have lost its eruptive forces at your age and to bring it to place would require uncovering it and placing a bracket and wire on it and have it orthodontically moved into space. Prognosis? I can’t say for sure without seeing x-rays, you, etc.
2. You can have the permanent lateral removed and place a bridge. The downside is that a couple of good teeth would have to be ground down to have the support for the fake tooth.
3. An implant can be placed. This is probably your best option. You would still need to have the impacted lateral removed. The downside is that between all the time involved in taking out the tooth, placing the implant, and getting the crown, you would have almost a year of healing time needed during which you would be wearing a temporary partial. Ask your dentist what he would recommend and good luck to you
