Does America want us to be SICK or HEALTHY?

According to health care advocate Kevin Trudeau, the big Pharma wants every person in America to be SICK and on drugs. They want us to keep buying drugs & giving them our money. This is perfectly rational in that a firm’s goal is to maximize profits.

ON THE OTHER HAND,

According to my Total Wellness & Fitness textbook, it clearly states that America’s most valuable human resource is HEALTHY PEOPLE. Sick people drain the economy through increased govt. spending on programs, research, etc.

These two ideas conflict.

What do you all think??
People can be so close-minded. This is not a stupid question. This is a very tough, intellectual question. To me, it seems as both sides are true. The financial security of profits as well as population control are two important factors in keeping America sick. However, government spending and insufficient productivity of workers are other factors why America wants us to be healthy.

Healthy Americans save money; both their own and the insurance companies. On the hand the large drug companies (which by the way are NOT owned by the government) are in bussiness to make money. And make money they do. Doctors are constantly being wined, dined and conned into subscribing more and more drugs by the drug company reps.
Drug companies are at odds with the people who want to get drugs (same drugs, same company) from Canada because the drugs are cheaper.
Drug companies are constantly advertiseing new drugs with catchy condition name (Who ever heard of IBS or RLS until the commercial for the drugs to cure these so called diseases or conditions?)
The major drug companies do not want vitamins and herbs and ‘old time’ cures or treaments used; They cant make profit from it.

Okay, off the soap box now.
