Riddle about a food product?
My origin is believed to be in the Tien Shan mountains of eastern Kazakhstan 8,000 years ago. Carbonized remains of me have been found in prehistoric lake dwellings in Switzerland, dating back to the Iron Age. In the beginning I have been associated with love, beauty, luck, health, comfort, pleasure, wisdom, temptation, sensuality, sexuality, virility and fertility. In the 17th century, I came to North America with the English colonists. John Chapman planted me “so that no one would go hungry.” I am a member of the rose family, 25% of me is air. I am fat-free, 80 calories, and a good source of dietary fiber (5 g.), pectin, potassium, and Vitamin A & C. I help to reduce the risk of heart disease and some cancers, promote lung health, and protect against “bad” cholesterol. I can also reduce skin wrinkles, improve your memory, and promote hair growth.
